Tracey Riehl’s Bio
Tracey Riehl was born in Berkeley California to parents who encouraged and cultivated her desire to express her self inspirationally and creatively. Both parents were accomplished artists. Her father, profound with pen and ink, was also an acclaimed architect. Her mother designed and created large needle work wall hangings and quilts.
Throughout Tracey’s childhood she was introduced to many of her parent’s artist friends and was educated by many in drawing, wood carving, painting, clay sculpture and other medias.
When she was a young adult, her father introduced her to glass art and took her to Pilchuck and to meet Dale Chihuly personally. It was then that Tracey fell in love with glass. The feel of glass, the flowing colors of glass and all the possibilities to create with it. Since that day, Tracey has not only collected many beautiful pieces of glass work, but began to work with glass herself.
Tracey’s work speaks of strong insight and vision. There is a unique sense of meaning and purpose to her work. Her depth of understanding and ability to create strong visions with glass is evident.
